Switching users fixes sleep problem System
I have a 1GHz TiBook running 10.2.3. A few days ago, it wouldn't sleep as it normally does per the Energy Saving settings. Thinking that the pref setting may have been damaged, I logged out and logged into 'Guest' account to test and see if it goes to sleep by itself. It did.

So I went back into the primary user with the intent to fix it. The phone rang so I chatted for awhile and noticed that it went to sleep. I was a happy camper as didn't have to fix anything, so I re-adjusted Energy Saver back to the usual settings. Again, it wouldn't sleep, so I repeated what I did in the first step and voila, it works (be sure to let it sleep first in other account). I don't know why it happens, but it does sleep right away when I close the cover.

[Editor's note: If you're still having sleep issues, this may help you resolve them. On our iBook, the sleep problems vanished with the 10.2.2 update...]

No sleep for you!

Odd behavior in sleep here: Previous to 10.2.3, my iLamp ONLY went to sleep if File Sharing was turned off (as documented by Apple). After 10.2.3, the iLamp will now sleep properly even with File Sharing on, BUT my TiBook no longer sleeps. If I log out of the TiBook and return as a new user (I made a "Guest" account), it will sleep, but my primary TiBook account never sleeps.

What controls this stuff, anyway???

Check Login Items and see what's running that may keep it from Sleep. I had encountered another insomniac. It was after installing Canon's CanoScan Toolbox X that puts a couple of items in Login Items which is used for those hot buttons on the scanner. I never use those buttons so I took them out, log out, get back in. It sleeps peacefully.

I did indeed have 5 things in my Login Items. Some mouse
thing, two for Palm Desktop, and two for the Canon drivers. I
removed them one by one, logging out and back in, with no
success. I have no login items (and not sure how to get them
back ;) and still no sleep.

Very very odd. Guest still sleeps, as does the login screen. Any
further thoughts?
