Dual Processor PowerBook
Authored by: demmons65 on Dec 15, '03 11:37:29AM

I've been predcicting for the last year that Apple would introduce a dual-processor PowerBook G4 at MWSF 04. I'm specifically predicting a dual 1.4GHz 17-inch model.

Will the lap heat shielding be an upgrade?

Dual Processor PowerBook

No, but anything like "normal" battery life will definitely be an "extra-cost add-on"

A dual-processor laptop (from anyone) is just not going to happen, unless you consider the graphics subsystem to be a second processor.

Where are the PS mock-ups when you need them??
Authored by: Han Solo on Dec 15, '03 04:07:11PM

Anyone want to speculate on what a "'Real' 20th Anniversary Mac" will look like? On what its specs will be?

Surely a few people with Photoshop skills can knock one off as they start their holiday vacations.... ;)

Hopes, more than anything else

I voted for the iPDA because I thought that would be great.

However, they really should come up with an affordable G5. Like the equivilent of the iMac, except with G5 power. The reason is that right now, at least for me, the G5 is completely not worth the price.

MW Expo surprise?
Authored by: sjk on Dec 16, '03 10:19:41PM

I voted "AppleWorks replacement" last week since that's long overdue.

I'm hoping for a 20" G5 iMac (and think Apple can sell a few of 'em) tho' it may still be a bit premature for that.

Now that would be a surprise
Doubt it will happen any time soon.

I voted for what I wanted to see ...

... rather than what I expect. I have no idea what Apple will do.

What I really want is a powerTablet: a tablet-styled PowerBook with WACOM-engineered pressure-sensitive display/tablet screen & all manner of wireless connectivity.

What about...
Authored by: Kilevar on Dec 23, '03 05:49:14PM
What about mini iPods?

Of course, I'll believe it when I see it.
Going off other slashdot news, I'd be thinking the faster G5s are most likely.

Pixar render farm now 100% G5s
Authored by: shemp9999 on Dec 29, '03 02:09:11PM

heh, that's a funny one.

i think we'll see linux in the renderfarm for the forseeable future.

desktop workstations are another story. look for new productions to roll out the g5s...but that was announced last june.
