Will you buy an iPad 3?

I'm completely underwhelmed by the new iPad. A faster processor is always nice, but the iPad 2 already had a beautiful display. And I've never had the desire to take a photo, let alone video, with an iPad.

I'll have mine March 16. Of course I would have liked more new features, but I think the display alone would have been enough to make me want to upgrade. So I went ahead and pre-ordered rather than wait until I see it in person 10 days from now and wish I would have got one--and then not be able to get one until April or May when stock evens out! (Learned that lesson last year with the iPad 2).)

"me too"

I received an iPad2 as a premium for installing solar, but it is only 16GB, and the apps I like to have available filled nearly all that up. So much for content...

Going whole hog this time expecting that I will be skipping a version or two in the future.

I'll definitely be getting one, but not until my iPad 2 needs replacing anyway, so I voted in "other" so as not to mess the poll up.

Basically the iPad 2 display is already extremely good, so the Retina one is just a nice to have for me, and I've never been able to understand why anyone would ever want to take a photo or video with a tablet anyway. The camera on the iPad 2 is more than adequate for FaceTime, that being the only logical use I can see for it.

A faster processor would sway me IF I was seeing my iPad 2 struggle with any task I threw at it, but I don't.

Maybe when I see the retina display in the flesh I'll be convinced, but I doubt it as I never was on the iPhone; very nice, but eye candy only really.

Since I only have a first-gen iPad, and usually my policy is to buy every other generation, I'll probably get one. Not sure which model yet, though.

While it looks like a really nice machine, there is nothing compelling enough in the new features for me to replace my iPad 2.

Now, if I did not already own an iPad, then I would definitely go for the new one.

Other:

Would, but probably won't. Wife has an iPad 2, so if it met an early demise it would be a 3 to replace it. Otherwise not.

Also, I remember having an iPhone 3G and being *totally* annoyed at all the app updates doing nothing (for me) but to increase the apps space requirement for the higher resolution iPhone 4.

I do agree with another poster about Apple's weird rationale behind the pricing for higher disk space. For 16GB more you pay $100 and for another 32 GB you pay $100 more. Why is that? Only Steve knows. RIP Steve.

I bought the first gen iPad and my family has used it to the best possible way. I don't want to go into details but there are so many reasons, I will not look at any other tablet.

Waiting for Windows 8, then I'll decide...

Bought iPad 2 for my wife because she really enjoyed using the first-gen iPad that my office lent me. It's the first piece of tech she's ever enjoyed (as in, she likes using it).

I'm holding out for a tablet that approaches my MacBook Pro's power and flexibility, and/or a pressure-sensitive stylus solution that approaches the quality of a WACOM tablet. That's what I was hoping for right before Apple unveiled the first iPad. I've been disappointed ever since. I want a real computer that's a tablet.

So, yeah, I'm also going to be watching the Windows 8 news as it unfolds.

- iCal on the Mac has gotten really awesome lately. I wish iOS had the same totally flexible reminders!
