Temporarily suspend energy saver settings via script

This script did not work for me on 10.5.2 I downloaded the original script at the site linked from the hint. Apparently the shell script line
do shell script "defaults -currentHost read com.apple.screensaver idleTime"
does not work

Temporarily suspend energy saver settings via script

maybe it's supposed to be:
do shell script("defaults -currentHost read com.apple.screensaver idleTime")

I was just setting my screensaver time like this, and I had to use:
do shell script ("defaults -currentHost write com.apple.screensaver idleTime 900")

just a guess
