Disable single-click URL selection in Firefox 3

You don't have to triple-click or use a keyboard shortcut. Just click the proxy icon (the icon immediately to the left of the URL text) and the whole URL will be selected. Such functionality gives "the best of both worlds": you can insert the cursor or select the whole URL each with a single mouse click.

Proxy icon behavior has changed in FF3
Authored by: dzurn on May 30, '08 12:32:15PM

Unfortunately, the behavior when clicking on the proxy icon has ALSO changed in FF3. Now a click shows an identity info popup for the website instead of selecting the location.

So now to type in a new URL I have to either hit Cmd-L or single-click on the location bar, instead of aiming for the proxy icon as in FF2.
