You do not have to do all that long agonizing work to set a number of recent items. In system preferences go to the appearance pane, below there are options to select the number of recent items to be displayed
10.5: Set any number of recent items
You mean something like I noted directly in my note in the hint? "You can use the Appearance System Preferences panel to specify certain numbers of recent items, but the above command gives you precise control."
10.5: Set any number of recent items
I see that your stint at Macworld has rubbed off on you. You've learned how to be rude and snide to people who provide you a living by giving you hints gratis, which you then use to sell books and write columns.
10.5: Set any number of recent items
Long before I started working for Macworld, I lost patience with those who comment before reading hints. It has nothing at all to do with free hints, columns, or anything involving making my living. It has everything to do with respect for the hint's author and any notes I might take the time to write: Before commenting, people should first insure that their comment isn't already covered in the hint itself. That just strikes me as common courtesy. |
