Change default Audio MIDI settings?
Authored by: caewok on Apr 10, '08 08:23:03PM

If you are trying to play a movie file with surround sound (like AC3), use Quicktime movie inspector (apple-I) to see the Format. On .mkv files, for example, it tells me the file is encoded at 48.000 kHz. Therefore, on my macbook pro, I need to change Audio MIDI Setup from 44.1 kHz to 48.0 kHz to match, in order to get surround sound to work on my receiver (optical port).

Does anyone know how to change the default Format settings in Audio MIDI? Since I use a laptop, Audio MIDI defaults back to 44.1 kHz whenever I unplug the optical cord, which is annoying. I can't seem to change the default or write a script that would work.
