10.5: A fix for Mail.app not showing IMAP sub-mailboxes
Authored by: AmericasPrinter on Mar 12, '08 03:36:04PM

I migrated to Leopard and Mail.app did not change my imap path prefix to "INBOX."

I also prefer the old appearance of having my account subfolders listed below my inbox. I even called Apple about this.

Mail.app will only alert you to change the path prefix every time you re-launch Mail.app. If you keep it open (as I do) it does not prompt the alert after it asks one time. It is annoying but since I only close Mail.app once a week or so it does not bother me.

One big dilemma with this structure is that you can not add a subfolder to the root level of your imap account. You can add subfolders nested inside other subfolders. If you want to add a subfolder to the root level of the imap account you will need to either connect to the account with a Mac running Tiger or temporarily change the imap path prefix to "INBOX" add the folder you want and then remove the path prefix again.
