The Finder infos inspector is an heritage from NeXTSTEP's Workspace manager's one, and present for a while in Mac OS X ;-)

Is there some setting that needs to be adjusted to get the inspector version of the info panel? When I do Command-Option-I, the regular info window pops up. I can even see the Menu-Item File->Get Info change to Show Inspector when I press the option button, but the window that appears looks identical in both cases. Or is this perhaps Intel Mac only? (I'm on a PPC Mac)

Sorry, premature post. I was expecting the semi-transparent black look. I now see that though the info window LOOKS identical, with Command-Option-I it can float above the quick-look window whereas the regular version can't. |
