Another data point- success
Authored by: ejensen on Jul 24, '02 02:54:14PM

I had succes flashing on a Mac- this was a Visiontek GeForce2 MX400 Xtasy 5564 64MB AGP with VGA and s-video out. I initially tried flashing on a PowerMac G4 (Dual 500, boot rom 3.34f1) but got no video output in OS 9 or X. I tried unsuccessfully to flash the card ROM as a 'Startup Item' task.

I didn't have a PC readily available but I did then try the card in my G4 400 (single processor, boot rom 4.28f1) with AGP. This time the video was visible in OS 9.1 and I was able to run the Mac flash utility successfully first time. I then took the card back to my G4 Dual 500 and it works just great. It may have been the different boot rom or possibly the different timing between the older 400 G4 and the newer one.

I've got the exact same machine (400 mhz G4), the exact same card (Visiontek GeForce2 MX400 Xtasy 5564 64MB AGP with VGA and s-video out), the exact same boot rom (4.28f1), the same os (9.1) but, when I ran the Mac Flash Utility, nothing happened. I even tried the Applescript posted at the top of the page. Anybody got any ideas as to why it worked for ejensen but not for me?
