Ghostscript is another free option
Authored by: jecwobble on Jul 24, '02 02:48:47PM
I have RealPC (Classic app) running Win98 for some MS Access applications I have. I couldn't just print the Access reports directly to the printer attached to my Mac, and I didn't want to buy Acrobat, so I searched for an alternative. I found Ghostscript and a variety of GUIs for it. I only use the Windows version, but it looks like there are ports for OS 8 & 9 and UNIX (including FreeBSD and some X11 GUIs).

Ghostscript is another free option

That's the spirit.

To be honest, I have a hard time understanding those people who keep complaining about "complicated". Sure it's easier to export from Photoshop. It's also a hell of a lot more expensive. The only other alternative I've ever heard people mention is SnapzPro X, and even that costs money.
So I take the time to tell folks about a way they can do something for free, and what do I get? One intelligent comment (yours), two emails from guys with questions (I've answered them to the best of my knowledge), and a whole lot of BS from people who apparently consider it a sacrilege to use anything other than an extremely pricey (and bloated) piece of software that wasn't even Carbonized until recently.

BTW, I think ImageMagick might actually be using GhostScript itself.
