10.5: Another way to archive Time Machine backups
Authored by: rethas on Jan 30, '08 07:08:39PM

I bought a Seagate Free Agent Desktop (500 GB) a week back. I use a macbook running leopard. I connected the hard drive to the laptop and now have 2 partitions on it- Windows (MS DOS) partition and Mac OS Extended (Journaled) one.

I use Leopard's Time Machine on the mac partition and use the other partition to copy stuff from my laptop across other computers, including Windows.

And now to the problem - My laptop keeps shutting down whenever there seems to be some activity(maybe writing) on the Hard drive. I have had numerous numerous abrupt shutdowns and this is quite concerning.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is this a known issue, Can I get a solution please!

Thanks.
