Wow.. I had no idea about the shift/command/e thing.. thats handy, but too many steps. I downloaded the app mentioned for uploading pics too, but haven't tried it yet (learning lots of new stuff today, so its all good people!)... You can do in automator in two steps and then save as an app: "get selected items" then "resize image". it automatically figures out which is the longer dimension and just asks for on input - pixels. I used to use mail for this, but I hate the new "small, medium, large" - I want to know exactly. Drag one or more to the desktop, right click and hit resize (defaults to my usual 800pix for the long side).

sorry, forgot.. just extend this by putting in a ftp step and then deleting the intermediate files in the automator script and its one stop shopping.
