How to burn a 'flat' MP3 CD with iTunes

To create a flat CD (a cd with no folders) of any playlist, make a Smart Playlist that targets the playlist you want to burn.

First let me say that these instructions are a "how to" on a PC but they should still work for MAC.

My MAC doesn't have iTunes on it, it's too old. Wish I could afford a new one but that's a different subject.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Put a blank CDR in your CD Burner 2. Click Edit > Preferences > Advanced 3. Select Mp3 CD
4. Click OK
5. Click File > New Smart Playlist
6. In first column select "Playlist"
7. In second column select "is"
8. In third column select the playlist you want to burn i.e. Rock
9. Click OK
10. Name the playlist you just created, Car Rock (Car signifies the location of the cd player that's going to play the CD. You could name it Sony Rock, Denon Rock etc ...for obvious reasons
11. Click the Burn icon on lower right of window pane

Voila! An mp3 CD without folders!

After the CD has burned, check it by viewing the CD's files on your computer. (PC people open My Computer > Right click the CD > select Explore) It may have one additional named ContentsDB. Don't worry about it.

If your CD looks as I've described but still doesn't work. You simply need to

FIRST Click Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Importing > under Import Using: select Mp3 Encoder. Click OK

SECOND Select the songs of the target playlist you want to burn, (you will need to hold down Control for multiple songs.)

THIRD In main window Click Advanced > Convert selection to mp3.

You've created duplicates. Just delete the originals by right clicking them in the main window.

Start over at #1, #2, ect...

Good luck!
