10.5: Another way to archive Time Machine backups
It is one of the many ways to do it. Why not simply divide your 500GB external drive into two separated partitions? I did it with my 500GB external drive and it works great.

I tried to follow the instruction in this hint, but Disk Utility can't create an image. It says that "the resource is busy." I even tried to temporarily turn Time Machine off.

I bought a Seagate Free Agent Desktop (500 GB) a week back. I use a macbook running leopard. I connected the hard drive to the laptop and now have 2 partitions on it- Windows (MS DOS) partition and Mac OS Extended (Journaled) one. |
