Why resample?

I'm a bit confused. Why did you resample the image smaller in Photoshop? If you just needed a smaller size, just change the size, and let the resolution change to fit. It almost sounds like you left the resolution the same, then resampled down to a smaller physical size.

Granted, re-rendering the vector text information at a smaller resolution is likely to give you the best quality, but I'm guessing you could have gotten much better quality out of Photoshop. The trick is to uncheck the "resample" button at the bottom of the "Image Size" dialog.

Of course, I could be misunderstanding the problem…
