10.5: Access advanced SMB printer setup options
First of all, thanks so much metiure for this awesome post! I couldn't believe after upgrading to Leopard (10.5.1) that Apple would remove the advanced option from the Print & Fax preferences...and sure enough they didn't. =)
Here's how I got to the Advanced tab to show up on toolbar mwayne: 1. As metiure said: "To reach this area, you first open the Print & Fax System Preferenes panel, then click the plus sign at the lower left corner of the window." 2. Then, here comes the Apple simplicity. Just point the cursor on the toolbar (next to any old icon) > right click/ ctrl-click > Customize Toolbar 3. Drag the Advanced icon to the toolbar and you're all set! Hope this helps and the instructions were clear. Also, before I tried using the Advanced tab, I tried adding the printer in CUPS by logging onto http://localhost:631 as lawrencedudley suggested. However, for some reason after I am taken to the CUPS page, I cannot find the "Add printer" link anywhere on the home screen, or any of the others screens.... I'm at least glad I got my printer working properly one way! |
