10.5: An important caveat about X11 and upgrade installs
I seem to remember a support article on Apple's website which I can't find at the moment that suggested that X11 Tiger could run in Leopard, if so desired, however it strongly suggested using X11 2.0. X11 Tiger (1) is still available to download from Apple's website (http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/x11formacosx.html).
If you are having major issues with X11 2.0 then try using the tiger version or try (http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/xquartz/wiki/Releases) this updated version (it solved some issues for me). Note: this is an unsupported update.
10.5: An important caveat about X11 and upgrade installs
Your Apple support link is X11 for 10.3, not 10.4 (v. 1.1.3) ;-) and it's obviously not UB for intel Mac, if it ever works.
10.5: An important caveat about X11 and upgrade installs
I am a basic user of Mac and I have a Mac Mini with Tiger OS X but when I tried to load a copy of Leopard, it said to restart. I wanted to go back to my old settings so I could let the wife use the computer and I chose to restart in my old settings. When I did that the white screen with the Apple stays on and never continues, I had to hold the shift button to get the DVD to eject after multiple tries on re-booting. Now, that white screen just stays on and the spinner below the Apple keeps on spinning. I can't try to boot up in Safe Mode because my bluetooth keyboard isn't ready during the initial startup (I think??) ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE???? Oh, and I am overseas in Okinawa Japan, so there's no Apple Store to drop it off at. |
