Recover from an incorrect resolution setting on a mini
i actually was interested in doing the opposite. I have my mac mini connected to a plasma TV via VGA and if the plasma is not turned on when the mac comes out of sleep it 'resets' the display back to 800x600 (instead of the 720p friendly resolution). Now i can address this by 'detecting' the screen again, but usually i just use my remote control and FrontRow and don't even have a keyboard attached.

If your plasma has an unused HDMI port, I'd suggest getting a DVI -> HDMI cable (I think cost me $10 on NewEgg). Automatically sets to the best/native resolution of your TV (mine happens to be 1080p even though the TV was advertised as only doing up to 1080i)

Not sure that will fix the problem though, since allegedly the black screen will return when the problem monitor is attached again. |
