29160 in OS 9
Authored by: BrianT on Jul 16, '02 01:19:53PM

I had the same problem on seeing my drive in OS 9, I did some research and found out that the cable was causing the problem. I had a cable with one connection and found out on some macs you need one with at least two connectors, after buyig the cable the disk showed up in OS9.

Then came the boot problem (would not work as startup drive) with Quicksilver machines, I have the 867. With more research on the Adaptec website I found that you need to :

1) Reboot, holding down command-option-O-F all at the same time at startup. You will see a white screen starting with "Open Firmware" and ending with a "0 >" prompt.
2 When the Open Firmware prompt appears, type the following (Note that the spaces between quotes are important and the instructions are case sensitive. (The ß character = a space. Wherever the ß character appears in the lines listed below, type a space in it's place.) After pressing return , the Mac should display an "OK" response and another "0 >" prompt.)
setenvßfcode-debug?ßtrue
3) At the "0 >" prompt type the following and then press the return key
printenv
4) Verify the following line exists in the output, generally 4 to 6 lines down
fcode-debug? true false
5) At the "0 >" prompt type the following and then press the return key
mac-boot
7) Once the system is up select the drive (using Startup Disk in the Control Panels folder under Mac OS 9 or in Startup Disk in System Preferences under Mac OS X) you wish to boot off of and reboot.
