Iomega Buz SCSI 2 card works too!
Authored by: acalado on Jul 11, '02 09:54:37AM

I picked up an Iomega Buzz PCI SCSI-2 and Video capture card at clearance a year and half ago. While there is no support or drivers for the video in/out features of this card (the Buz box), the card does function fine without drivers as a SCSI adapter in my G4/400 under Mac OS X.

I have since decided to become legacy free, so if anyone wants this beast (complete with all cables, box, CDROM and documents), make me an offer at acalado@mac.com.

I suspect there are a lot of PCI SCSI controllers that are compatible with Mac OS X without drivers. Wouldn't it be nice if there were a complete list of compatible hardware posted on Apple's web site? I had a hell of a time finding a 10/100Base-T Nic for my old 7600 that was compatible with Mac OS X. Found an old Intel chipset card that I never expected to work, but it did after I had no luck with cards from SMC, 3Com and even my Asante card that is Mac OS 9 compatible. Asante said they have no plans to update the drivers for OS X so I will never buy another Asante product. Do you blame me?

Andy
