Install woes.

New dual 533 processer G4. Fresh install of 9.1. When we ran the OS X installer disk we would get the happy face for thirty seconds and then we would get a icon of a broken folder. We tried a fresh install of 9.1, no luck. We also had some trouble installing OS X on a 733 machine. It would not boot into "Classic". We had no problems installing on a 533 machine and a 450 machine. So my boss had the brilliant idea that it was hardware related. So I checked out the specs on the different machines . The one thing that jumped out was the different CD ROM drives. And I rembered a post some where that talked about drives not being supported. So I took it on my self to do some testing. I pull the drive out of the 533 machine and put it in the dual 533 and sure enough it installed just fine. Then I tried the same drive in the 733 machine. Worked just great. So if you can, try this next time you have a rough time installing OS X.
Now if we can just figure out the problem with the RAM specs.
This is my first tech post so if I ... please let me know.
Thanks Jiro
