10.5: See and use some extra built-in Smart Folders

When I drag the .cannedSearch files to my Side Bar I can not put them under "Search For". I can only added them under "Places" (where they work fine, but not where I want them).

Anyone know how to get around this?

I know I found the canned searches day one of my Leopard life... and found that the canned searches are stored your finders plist with some hex-foo you could add this or any canned search one you figure it it... it looks like it uses both unix and old toolkit strings to the canned search folders along with some odd ball text.

As of yet I haven't had enough time to crake the code. Hope that helps someone out.

I was able to drag a smart folder under the search for pane, so you could take a look at the canned search attributes (click the gear option) and re-write to a new smart folder
