compressing 'man' pages

...just how much space can man pages take up?
I'm curious as they are nothing but text ....

Here's the output from "du -h" (disk usage, human readable, installed with GNU file utilities) on my hard drive:
% du -h
8.3M ./man1
780k ./man2
6.9M ./man3
396k ./man4
732k ./man5
4.0k ./man6
356k ./man7
1.3M ./man8
19M .
The last number shows the total at 19mb, so compression will free up a good bit of space - especially since they are text files.
