10.5: A solution for a possible iCal - Mail To Do issue
Authored by: houltmac on Nov 02, '07 11:31:27AM

I had an issue with this aswell, however my issue was slightly different.

I was creating to-do's in Mail (since appointments were coming through there) and then viewing them in iCal to assign them to a calendar. I could not however change the calendar any to-do's in Mail were created in. They seemed stuck in this odd "calendar" calendar. Creating them in iCal however allowed me to change the associated calendar in either iCal or Mail.

After a bit of poking around I found the same setting in Mail preferences (an odd place to put it if you ask me) and mine was set to "My .Mac Account". I changed this to "On my Mac" and I can now create to-do's anywhere and assign them to any calendar. Much more useful since I will never want to assign all of them to just one calendar when I have more than that.

I never had an issue with crashes however; this is worth note. I should also note that at the time my Gmail was still POP only, so the only email account set up in Mail (in that user account) was my .Mac mail (thus [perhaps] the default setting I had).
