Poll: How Often Do You Turn Off the Power to Your Internet Connection?

I seriously doubt that a router comes anywhere near to a fridge in terms of power draw (at least a regular router; I don't know what kind of devices where used for the magazine article he mentioned). A quick googling brought up this regarding routers' use of electricity.

I use a Linksys router myself (similar to the one in the linked article above) with a server/desktop machine behind it that I can wake up remotely via Wake-on-LAN. Thus only the router and (alas) my DSL modem need to stay on 24/7, while the computer, which I estimate draws some 100-150 watts when active, is powered off for a great majority of the time. I recommend this solution for anyone looking to balance energy conservation with nearly-instant availability of a home server.
