Hack to run iMovie 7.1 on G4s
Authored by: Glenn_Turner on Oct 03, '07 01:44:08PM

This hack sounds fantastic, but I'm completely unable to figure it out. I'm familiar with Linux and DOS os's like Windows, but new to Mac OSX.

The installation program is on the install DVD. My Mac won't allow me to scan the DVD, and I can't figure out where it's mounted when I use the Terminal. If I try to copy the install program by dragging it to the desktop, the entire contents of the DVD start to copy over. Is that what I need to do to get at the program?

...and what is the source code for this program called? Can it be edited using vi? ...or will I need to download or purchase a binary editor. Next, what parameters must be used to compile it?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help get me going. BTW, I installed iLife (sans the new iMovie) a few weeks ago. Should I uninstall all of it and start over?

Glenn

I decided to copy the DVD to my desktop for editing. Now I've got a file called "iLife '08.mpkg". I assumed is was a compressed file, like a zip or tar, but my unzip program (stuffit expander) says the file is actually a directory. (?!)

Please help!

Glenn
