A workaround for a Firewire Target Disk Mode issue
Authored by: thannon88 on Sep 20, '07 04:08:44PM

Thanks for posting this work-around. I just experienced the same problem on an eMac. I put the eMac into Target Disk Mode and its HD would not mount on a new Intel iMac. I tested cables, ports, other computers, etc. Nothing worked. The tests pointed towards some odd glitch in the eMac. So, I followed the suggested work-around and connected an external firewire drive to the iMac via FWire 800. Then I connected the emac to the external drive via FWire 400. Suddenly the eMac's hard drive mounted. I'm currently using Migration Assistant to copy the data off of the eMac.
