Import a vCard into Thunderbird's address book

Do you have to have some special extensions or settings for this to work or something? I tried sending a vcf to myself, but it just sits there in the bottom of the email like any other attachment, with the usual ctrl-click options of open/save/delete/etc. If I double click it just brings up a dialogue asking where I want to save it.

At no point is there an import option.

Has anyone actually got this to work?
