How about forcing filtered messages to not download to the iphone...
How about forcing filtered messages to not download to the iphone? I have a few mailing lists go to my gmail account in case my mail server goes down and I need to hit those mailing lists to bring it back up. Unfortunately I do not want hundreds of emails going to the phone but for some reason the iphone does not distinguish between stuff filtered to a folder and stuff in the inbox.

This is not the iPhone's fault. This is how Gmail works. All email is really just one giant mailbox. Everything you do with it is based on labels. When you filter an email list and appear to stick it in a different mailbox, you are really just applying a label so your filtered views work appropriately. When any POP3 client connects to Gmail, however, all they see is one giant mailbox. |
