Wireless mouse dead? Use Universal Access
Yes you should def use rechargeable batteries - cheaper and better for the planet, Apple should really bundle some with a small charger as part of their green move.
Wireless mouse dead? Use Universal Access
Sigh. You do realize, I hope, that everything in an alkaline battery that goes back into the earth came out of the earth originally? Last time I checked, humanity was incapable of ex nihilo creation, although it does seem fairly good at making up apocalyptic fairy tales and swallowing them down whole.

You do realize, I hope, that after we take those raw materials out of the ground, we process them in ways that change their chemical nature? The things we dump back into the landfills (or the oceans, or wherever) are often not at all able to re-assimilate into nature.
Don't be so quick with the uninformed criticism next time.
Wireless mouse dead? Use Universal Access
What is this mythical re-assimilate into nature whereof you speak? By what arcane magic has a substance been separated from nature? Combining zinc, nickel, potassium, manganese, hydrogen and oxygen into a battery somehow makes it no longer natural? It must be the tainting of the evil hand of man, I suppose.

*Sigh* You do realize, I hope, that everything we use comes from the Earth itself. But that, in no means, allows us to do whatever we want with it with no repercussions to our, or our planet's health.
But since you seem to think otherwise, how about we just store our nuclear waste in your backyard and route all the fossil-fuel emissions in to your house and, hey, while we're at it, we'll just fill your basement with battery acid. We got all that stuff from Earth so it won't do you any harm!
