The issue with dual monitors all has to do with layout.

If your screens are the exact same size then you won't notice any issues except you might notice part of what you are zooming on will end up in the second monitor.

If your screens are different resolutions you will notice that when coming to one edge the smaller screen will display black where you have left it's resolution & when trying to go over that area it will not let you.

If your screens are offset you can forget zoom (corner to corner) because it seems to get stuck trying to expand across both screens, the screens need to be side by side. You can still zoom in on a mouse centered object using the option+command+8 & then option+command+ (+ or -).
