port 80 is for web servers, not browsers... And a lot of firewalls specifically block port 80 because you're not supposed to be hosting a website...

You are wrong. The hint causes iChat to contact the AIM server at server's port 80. It does work.

Actually, the suggester is correct. Outbound to port 80 represents web surfing traffic to internet web sites. He/she means destination port 80.
