Use Windows XP from Virtual PC with Parallels -- The Answer!
Authored by: SPritikin on Apr 22, '07 06:43:44PM
Here's the bummer of a problem that busts your high with your new intel duo mac.

The new intel core duo 2 mac will not run Virtual PC 7. Microsoft verifies this on their website.

Here's the upside! Do not buy a new Windows XP or Widows XP Pro if you already have it in Virtual PC 7. You can still use it!

I have found the answer of installing Windows XP Pro from Virtual PC 7 for Mac into Parallels. It's as simple as using Parallels "Transporter"which is part of Parallels Desktop For Mac. It's all about migration.

Whew, it has been a long haul. I appreciate all of the technical advice for Bootcamp, however nothing resolved the simple issue for Parallels and the intel mac.

Either you can use your old virtual pc document (windows XP Pro or whatever you called it) from your previous Mac (Power PC, G4) or create an entire new one to save space so you can burn it to a a DVD. If you do create a new one do not add the virtual pc additions that it will eventually ask during install & restart. You won't need them any way.

The Virtual PC file is in the folder Virtual PC List under documents.

Simple, here we go....

1. Burn the Virtual PC document file from your old Mac onto a DVD. Do not make a disc image. Just burn the file.

2. On the intel core duo 2 mac, import it via Parallels "Transporter."

3. It will ask you what type of file, just click continue.

4. Transporter will do all the rest.

5. Follow the simple prompts.

So simple. No problem importing either an old Virtual PC or a brand new Virtual PC into Parallels for the intel duo macbook pro, macbook...
