10.4: Watch zoomed-in video without the mouse pointer

Another way is to change the way the zoom function works:

Go to System Preferences, then Universal Access and click on the zoom options, and at the bottom of the drop down is the three different ways the zoom can work- if you select "Only when the pointer reaches the edge" then you can move the mouse to either the right or bottom of the screen and watch the zoomed video without a mouse pointer in the way.

Don't worry about the "Enable" or "Disable" - from what I gather it only controls the keyboard shortcuts for the zoom function, it still works when "diabled" using the control key.

I can't claim credit for discovering this, my 3 year old found (and changed) the setting for me, and it took me a while to find out how to change it back. It works great for watching zoomed video, but is a bit more tedious than the standard zoom function.
