If by "now technically possible", you mean since last October, sure. It's been possible since 10.1. Developers are just lazy.

BBEdit definitely supports them.

C'mon folks...

Technically possible...

That's exactly what I meant -- it's technically possible, but basically never seen. I didn't bother to go into when it became available, just that they were now available. My demo version of BBEdit 6.52, which is supposedly identical to the paid-for version, does not seem to do services - so that's why I wrote "I thought...". In checking their site now, the only reference I see to services is "Integrated spelling checker -and- Word Services spellchecker support", which does not sound like true Services support to me. The "Services" menu doesn't show any choices whatsoever, as with all the rest of my Carbon apps - does the full version somehow differ in this regard?

So I meant what I wrote - it's technically possible, and I thought BBEdit supported it, but it doesn't seem to work in the version that I have.

My paid version of BBEdit 6.5.2 has full functional services menu.

It looks like we may be talking at cross purposes, here... the clip below is from the BBEdit "What's New in 6.5?" file:
On Mac OS X 10.1, BBEdit can make text in open documents available to other applications through the Services menu. (OS limitations currently prevent BBEdit from making its own services visible on the Services menu.)
Is this information out-of-date? With my install (10.1.5) the services menu does appear in BBEdit, and in fact works better than many applications, BBEdit's services (whatever they may be) don't show up in other applications. Do I need to poke at something with a digital stick to make that happen, or is it just not a reality yet?

Yes, that's what I meant. Thanks for the clarification.
