Search in full screen Cover Flow view in Tunes 7.1

This is holdover behavior from CoverFlow's pre-iTunes incarnation as a standalone app, and it works in normal view as well as full-screen mode. (Even though "normal" CoverFlow view presents you with a search field, you can just start typing, without clicking in the field, and CoverFlow will search for you.)

The search pattern-matching (artist name vs. album title) depends on the sort criterion you apply to your main Music library in list view. Click the Artist column header to sort by artist name, and then type "John" in any CoverFlow view and you'll be shown the first album by John 5 (or John Cale, John Fogerty...). Click the Album header in the Music library, and then type "John" in CoverFlow view, and you might see "John Barleycorn Must Die" or John Wesley Harding".

Note that the artist search results described above assume you haven't use iTunes 7.1's "Sorting" preferences to make "John Cale" sort as "Cale, John". Also note that there's an apparent quirk in the Coverflow search/sort that causes it to overlook artist entries that begin with "The" (which iTunes ignores for sorting purposes): Type "B-E-A" and instead of going to "The Beatles" as expected, you go to the closest non-"The" match (on my Mac, that's "Beck"). Once you understand what's going on, this usually this puts you close enough to the intended target that it's still a time-saver.
