10.4: Create a simpler PowerPC and Intel boot drive

This scheme will definitely NOT work with the newest Mac Pro (1/2007). It will not even boot if you have an ext. Firewire drive connected that is formatted in Apple Partition format. I even had trouble mounting the ext. drive on the Mac Pro's desktop after booting. REALLY annoying, thanks for the new incompatible disk format, Apple! The workaround: boot from the system DVD that came with the Mac Pro, and run disk utility from it. THEN hook up the external drive and you can image to and from it. Works. Oddly, my Intel iMac has no problem with ext. drives in either Apple or GUID format. Posted by Mick, a/k/a Mac parts seller oicu81 on ebay...
