Thanks, Mechcozmo for setting the record straight.

I, for one, have had no problems going either direction and having all of my info transfered [including album art]. You just have to make sure you grab all the library/xml info in whatever direciton.

Now....SYNCING....that would be cool.

And why on earth isn't the rating and album art stored in the mp3 file instead of in some separate file!?!

The simple reason why rating information isn't stored in an MP3 or AAC file? The file can't!

MP3 files use the ID3 standard to keep metadata organized. Here's the wikipedia link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID3

AAC files have the 'standard' metadata tags and the 'iTunes' tags, and not all AAC-compatible players can read the iTunes tags in AAC files (though most will just ignore those tags and play the file just fine, whilst leaving the tags intact).
