Load NPR's morning news show via AppleScript

I've been using my Mac as a clock radio for years, but I hate using RealPlayer for anything. Fortunately, my local NPR station broadcasts an MP3 stream.

tell application "iTunes"
	activate
	open location "http://audio-mp3.ibiblio.org:8000/wunc"
end tell
I save that as a script and use the following command in Cronnix to automatically start the stream.

osascript /Users/alexhoward/Library/Scripts/Radio/WUNCStreamX.scpt

I too agree a local NPR's stream is the way to go ..

set volume output volume 70
tell application "iTunes"
play track "WNYC - AM: New York Public Radio" of playlist "Online Radio"
end tell

The nice thing is this will play even if the item is not checked, and therefore possibly excluded from iPod syncing

Of course part two is the Wake-up calendar event in iCal
- Repeat = every weekday
- Alarm = Run script ...
