wastebasket is better. Don't worry, it's the EU metric system that baffles your :-)

Although I'm a non-english speaker, I must say I've always found 'thrash' a rather ugly word to display on something as beautifull as a mac desktop.

What was wrong with wastebasket as it used to be called on British English systems? It's not the only offender since OS9, centre, colour, grey and a couple of others are now aslo spelt US style. What's wrong with properly localised resources? Is it that difficult? That said, I never undersood wastebasket either as a localisation. Bin or Rubbish would have been more appropriate in English.

In pre-X systems the icon certainly looked like a trash can. But in X it has beome a beautiful Wastebasket (just like one of those wire-mesh wastebaskets you can buy in Ikea!).

So let's call it that. :-)
