A caution on using command-line zip for backups

Note that while using the j option to tar will produce bzip2-compressed archives, which are smaller than gzip-compressed archives, it will also take longer. To use gzip compression instead, use the z option instead:

/usr/bin/tar czvf foo.tgz foo

/usr/bin/tar xzvf foo.tgz
