Use full video resolution on 5th generation iPods

1080i vs 480p (what they have now) would not be that hard. It's that little i that makes all the difference. Since 1080i is interlaced we're able to throw out 1/2 of the data while encoding which means from a bitrate standpoint it would be closer to 540p, just a wee bit more than what they use for 480p. If Apple went with 720p or 1080p then yeah, we would have an issue... But since 1080i is on the low end of the HD spectrum (higher number doth not higher quality it make) it should be fairly easy for Apple to introduce.

Since I'm an HD purist, I would like to se interlaced content die. Since most users screens are progressive anyhow (LCD, DLP, Plasma) it seems silly to keep interlacing the content. I would love to see 1080p videos online, but it's a difficult balance.

Just my $0.02.
