A caution on using zip for backups
Authored by: DavidRavenMoon on Nov 30, '06 08:37:00AM

I use Stuffit exactly because of this problem. I posted this in the topic about Stuffit and MIME files, but it you use zip to archive files with resource forks, such as PostScript fonts, you will ruin the files.

Tiger does not suffer from this issue, at least when zipping fonts, and I seem to remember that Panther was OK, but older systems don't keep the resource fork.
