I can't believe people still have the nerve to suggest this. I don't think there is a single Mac related web page where the "Apple would be so much more successful if they sold OS X for generic PCs" myth has not been debunked.

The two main reasons why this is A Bad Idea™ are:
- hugely increased development and testing costs for supporting a shitload of hardware configurations (some of very low quality)
- Apple would lose more profit in hardware sales than they would make through the additional OS licenses (even if the mac market share would tripple or so)
