Motorola v188 and T-Mobile USB modem setup

Here is my setup and how it works:

Using a V188 with the $5.99/month plan on a PowerBook w/OS X 10.4.9. For setup I used the instructions on this thread, including the script at http://www.taniwha.org.uk/ Then I went on searching and found this: http://aaltonen.us/archive/2004/03/23/tip-free-t-mobile-internet-access/

The changes that worked for me were to use wap.voicestream.com for the telephone number setting instead of internet2... Also, no TCP header compression, AND no DNS server adresses needed as per the instructions!

Email works (haven't tried sending, yet, though). And https works! May need to use the tmobile SMTP server: myemail.t-mobile.com I am sending this over my slow and sweet GPRS connection.

So, thanks to all, and especially for the wap setting, and for using the proxy server for ALL ports not just http! I set those in System Preferences->Network->Motorola Phone...->Proxies This worked for Safari right away, but not for Firefox, which has it's own settings for proxies in its Preferences. Haven't tried that one yet.
