Wow, you make it seem so hard. I usually use a different approach to that problem, and imho a safer(no clear text stored passowrd) and easier way.

I just connect to the server like I normally would. By the server browser or by using "Connect to Server" (CMD+K) in Finder.

Then all you have to do is pull an alias of the drive you mounted into you "Login Items" in SystemPreferences.

If you chose to save the password while connecting to the server "KeyChain" will save it encrypted on your drive.

Following all those steps should get you auto-mounted drives at login.
