How to clean the Mighty Mouse's scroll ball
Authored by: Ianws on Nov 03, '06 04:27:58AM

Well having spent most of the morning speaking with Apple Tech Support on a 0870 number and Apple in Ireland 0845 number (more wasted money) they agreed to replace the mouse as the tracking ball was not working in the downward direction - even wanted to know what the serial number of my G5 was ?? Tech support then asked if I had cleaned the tracking ball - I asked how as the mouse is a sealed unit - ' I don't know was the reply ' .
Anyhow I did a Google search and came across the numerous advice in this article - I found a very thin sable brush - pushed down the grey tracking ball and managed to clean the contacts .
Wished I had found the above info before wasting numerous phone calls ,

Thanks MacOSX hints

Ian

Too late for you now, for this issue anyway, but there is another way to contact Apple and avoid excessive phone charges. You can find free and/or geographical numbers for them (and for masses of other companies at www.saynoto0870.com. Sometimes there are hoops to jumps through, and appropriate advice is also available.
