10.4: Quickly exit from Front Row
Authored by: osxpounder on Oct 27, '06 10:34:18AM

I tested, and find CMD-OPT-Esc instantly exits Front Row, whereas the other tips do not.

BTW, if your reason for instantly killing FR is that the boss/spouse/kids/teacher just came into the room, whack the Esc key one more time to get rid of the Force Quit dialog box. Actually, this isn't reliable -- a few times I tried, the Force Quit box wasn't "up front" and "in focus" when FR vanished, so the Esc key didn't get rid of it .... so maybe you'd be better off not counting on this hint to help you get away with doing something you shouldn't be doing. ;) I think the FQ dialog was not in focus when I was viewing a "video podcast" rather than a "movie". I see iTunes is still running in the background...

Also note:

- if you're using Front Row to play songs in iTunes, killing Front Row won't stop the music. iTunes is running in the background, playing the music.

- if you're using FR to view photos in iPhoto, CMD-OPT-Esc won't stop the slideshow or the music playing with it. Apparently iPhoto boots and runs the show, and the Force Quit dialog shows it listed. I don't see an instant way to quit a slideshow.

- I didn't test with a DVD in the slot. I leave that to someone else.
