A quick method of pausing an iPod
be careful when buying headphones and be careful of accidentally bending the headphone plug. make sure the headphones dont make the ipod pause by simply turning the headphone jack clockwise or counterclockwise in the headphone input. i didnt know about this pause feature and had bought a set of sony headphones. for the longest time my ipod would pause when i would put it in my coat pocket and i had no idea why. after i read about the pause feature i realized what was happening. i think the sony headphone plug was a tiny bit thinner than your normal plugs (or maybe it had become bent and wasnt making good contact. i dont remember). so when i would put the ipod in my pocket, the little turning that i did to the headphone plug made the plug lose contact with the ipod's jack input causing my ipod to pause. a new set of headphones fixed the problem
A quick method of pausing an iPod
I wonder if something similar is going on with the headphone jack of my PPC G5? Yesterday I plugged in my Sony earplugs to the headphone jack on the front, and was surprised that the main speakers still continued to sound -- I expected them to shut off automatically when I plugged in my 'headphones'. Since these are Sony, too, maybe the plug's size is an issue. I noticed that, if I pulled or pushed them in slowly, the speakers' sound would cut off as the Sony pushed partway in, but when it was firmly seated, the sound in the speakers came back on.... so I reached around and unplugged the speakers. No big deal, but this thread did make me curious about it all. |
